Thrilling Thruxton up next for TAG Racing Honda

Following the momentum building weekend last time out at Brands Hatch, TAG Racing Honda head to round six of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship brimming with confidence and aiming for more success at the former airfield circuit of Thruxton, the scene of the teams’ maiden BSB victory in 2017, as the season hits its mid-way point.

Based in the heart of Hampshire, the 2.3-mile Thruxton circuit is the fastest track on the Bennetts BSB calendar, with superbikes achieving speeds in excess of 200-miles-per-hour, and has played host to some of the closest racing action in previous years.

The Andover based venue holds special memories for the Swadlincote based TAG Racing Honda squad, which was the sight of the teams’ first BSB win with Australian Josh Brookes.

Local boy, Fraser Rogers, is aiming to repeat that feat this weekend as he looks to put on a show for his hometown crowd. The 29-year-old has his sights set on clawing his way into the top 10 of the Championship standings, Rogers currently sits in 13th place on 66 points, and a solid weekend could see him break onto the all-important first page of the leaderboard.

After a challenging weekend in Kent at round five, Dutchman Jaimie Van Sikkelerus is looking for  a change of fortunes as he travels to Hampshire. The 28-year-old was forced to sit out of the Thruxton round in 2024 due to double knee surgery, and is excited about the prospect of riding his Honda Fireblade around the fastest circuit on the calendar.

The teams Pirelli National Superstock pairing of Matt Truelove and Shaun Winfield are also in action this weekend, with two races on their timetable. The pair enjoyed positive weekends last time out at Brands Hatch, and they too are also looking to climb the standings and we hit the mid-way point of the 2025 campaign.

Fraser: “I can’t wait to get going at Thruxton, it’s my home race and I know the local fans will be behind me, which is an exciting for me. Last year I tried my best here but I wasn’t in the best shape after my double leg break, so I’m excited to see what we can do there this year. The life of the tyre will be vital this weekend, so me and the team will be working hard to get the best grid position we can for each race. Anything can and will happen at Thruxton and I want I be in the mix as much as possible.”

Jaimie: “For sure this weekend will be challenging but I am certainly ready for it, it will be my first time around Thruxton on a superbike after we missed it in 2024 due to my knee surgery. I’m excited to see how we can fair against the rest of the field.”

Matt: “The National Superstock series is so competitive this year, but we aren’t far away from the front guys, and we proved that last time out at Brands Hatch. As a team we’re improving the package every weekend and I’m heading to Thruxton full of confidence. The podium is a realistic goal for me, and I’ll be doing my best this weekend to make it happen.”

Shaun: “Thruxton is the best circuit on the calendar for me, I love racing round it, and coming off my best result the year at Brands Hatch I’m raring to go. We need to build on the momentum we’ve got going now and push the front guys even more. It’s going to be a challenge but I have my sights set on it.”

Gary Winfield: “As team we’re heading to Thruxton aiming to continue with the positive vein of form we’ve got in both classes, although it’s a challenging circuit we’ve actually had some really memorable results there. It was the site of our first Superbike victory in 2017, so it’s always exciting to go back there.

“A large haul of points is what we’re expecting this weekend, and as a team we’ll be working hard together to give each rider the best chance of achieving that. We’re in a good position so it’s a matter of building on it and being confident.”
