TAG Racing endured a tricky weekend at the eighth round of the 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park, with the teams’ Superbike riders battling hard for the points across the Bank Holiday weekend. Jaimie Van Sikkelerus also endured a challenging weekend in Lincolnshire, collecting a 14th place finish in Sunday race, and failing to start Monday’s race. Matt Truelove was unfortunately ruled out through injury after a crash in Saturday’s first free practice.
The weekend got off to a solid start for Nesbitt and Rogers, who enjoyed a positive evening test session on Friday, which helped the pair get set for the weekend ahead, giving them a clear direction on set-up for free practice and qualifying.
Unfortunately, the pair would miss out on a spot in the all-important Superpole session on Sunday afternoon, which would leave Fraser 18th on the grid for the first 18-lap battle, with Charlie a row behind in 19th.
Later that afternoon the opening Superbike race would get underway, with both Rogers and Nesbitt getting solid starts, and they began to battle for the points. It would ultimately be a solid 18-laps for the duo, who came home in a strong 11th and 13th respectively, collecting vital Championship points.
Bank Holiday Monday came and for the shorter 12-lap sprint race the pair would line up alongside each other on the grid, with Fraser starting 19th and ‘Spud’ 20th. From the lights they would once again make strong starts, however they would experience contrasting fortunes throughout the race, with Rogers fighting hard over the duration of the race to come home 14th, and within the points.
Nesbitt would equally battle hard, however he would fail to finish inside the points, just missing out in a battle with Christian Iddon by just three tenths of a second at the flag, coming home 16th.
For the third, and final ZYN BSB race of the weekend, Nesbitt would line up 19th on the grid, with Fraser starting 20th. After making a solid start, Fraser quickly found himself in an eight man fight for ninth, sitting inside the top 15 for much of the race. However, with just a handful of laps remaining, he would be shuffled down to 16th by his friend Scott Redding, where he would ultimately take the flag. Nesbitt endured a tricky race, although he would be consistent with his lap times, he would struggle to challenge for the points, coming home 19th.
After qualifying strong on Sunday morning in 15th, after progressing directly into Q2 following his strong performance in free practice, Jaimie collected a solid points finish in the first 15-lap race of the weekend. However, Monday would see the Dutchman fail to start race two due to a technical issue he suffered on the sighting lap. ‘JVS’ would return to the pits, although he made a mistake and pulled into the garage, which would disqualify him from the race.
After completing just four laps during Saturday morning’s first free practice session, Matt would experience a technical issue with his machine, which resulted in him crashing out of the session. He was transferred to the medical centre, where scans on his shoulder would see him ruled out of the remainder of the weekend at his home circuit.
Charlie Nesbitt: “It’s been a challenge this weekend, and in all honesty it’s tough at the moment. We left the previous round in a good place, and I felt we would be able to carry it into this weekend, but for one reason or another we couldn’t. There is nobody more frustrated than myself about that. We’ll regroup and head to Assen and hopefully we can turn our year around and get back up the sharp end.”
Fraser Rogers: “In truth we have made progress this weekend, the bike feels much more comfortable to ride and it was good in the group battling for ninth in the final race, but I’m a little annoyed to be shuffled back to 16th on the final lap.
“We’re closing the gap down to the front runners and that is key for me, and the team. Big shout out to all my guys this weekend, they’ve worked so hard and I can’t thank them enough for their efforts. I can’t wait for Assen now.”
Matt Truelove: “To say I’m gutted is an understatement. We headed into the weekend looking strong after Thruxton, and after some recent tests at Cadwell I knew we’d be in the fight for the victory. Our first four laps were strong, we sat in the top four then what happened, happened. It’s no fault of anyone, the team build the bikes perfectly, and sometimes these things happen. I’ll be doing everything I can to be fit for my next round, which is Donington Park in four weeks time.”
Jaimie Van Sikkelerus: “It was a weekend that I was really looking forward to, I love Cadwell, but I felt my knee could be an issue, but we managed it well over the weekend and we managed to collect points in the first race, which I was pleased with.
“Unfortunately for race two I had a small technical issue with the bike on the sighting lap, which I returned to pit lane for the team to fix, however I made a silly mistake and pulled into the garage which meant I was disqualified from starting the race. That was my fault, and I am extremely sorry to the team for it, they have worked fantastic all weekend.
“I also just want to send my best wishes to Matt, I hope he recovers well and we’re on track together soon.”
Team manager Gary Winfield: “This weekend is a tough one to take, although there has been some positives with Fraser being in the fight for the top ten, as a team we expect more, and so do the riders. Across the weekend we worked well as a team, but again we’re leaving a little disappointed that we’re not consistently in the top ten.
“After Sunday’s race result we thought Jaimie would be in a stronger position on Monday, but he’s made a silly mistake by pulling in the garage, he’s held his hands up and he’ll learn from it. I want to extend my best wishes to Matt, it’s a real shame what has happened to him this weekend but hopefully he’ll recover well and be back on the bike soon.”
Fraser Rogers sits 17th in the ZYN BSB Championship on 41 points, one place and ten points ahead of his team mate Charlie Nesbitt, who sits 18th on 31. Matt Truelove drops to sixth in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship on 144 points, with Van Sikkelerus 22nd on 12 points.
The team now has their full focus set on round nine of the Championship, as they head across to Holland, and the TT Circuit Assen, where Fraser Rogers and Charlie Nesbitt will be in action on September 18-20.
