TAG Racing Honda aiming for strong performance at Oulton Park

The 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship is back in action this weekend after a 10-day break, with the TAG Racing Honda team aiming to produce their strongest performance of the season in Cheshire with five races across the weekend for Dan Linfoot and Shaun Winfield in their respective classes.
Following on from a testing but ultimately rewarding round at Silverstone just under two weeks ago, the Swadlincote based outfit head to Cheshire in a strong position as they look to end the season on a high. The 2.6-mile Cheshire venue played host to the opening round of the campaign back in June and was a baptism of fire for Linfoot, Winfield and the whole team, but they now return to the well-known roller-coaster ride in a stronger position with the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP.

Yorkshireman Linfoot sits 16th in the standings on 65 points, just four shy of 15thplace Kyle Ryde, and is aiming for three strong points scoring rides at one of his favourite circuits as he looks to heighten his points amassed. The 33-year-old has fond memories of Oulton Park, the venue where he went toe to toe with Leon Haslam and took his second Bennetts BSB victory in 2017.

Teammate Winfield likewise is aiming for a stronger weekend at one his favourite tracks after improving his feeling with his Superstock spec Fireblade. The 28-year-old welder enjoyed a positive time out at Silverstone, but is setting his sights on his first points of 2021 in Cheshire with two races across the weekend.

Dan Linfoot: “I’m very much looking forward to Oulton Park this weekend, clearly the season end is fast approaching, and we are all keen to show our full potential before the curtain closes, which I’m confident we can do.

“We found another improvement in the final race at Silverstone which we hope to carry forward to this weekend, and it will be interesting to compare our performances with that of the opening round when we started with the bike.

“We have developed the Fireblade a hell of a lot since the start of the season, so I’m fully confident we can achieve much stronger results this time around.”

Shaun Winfield: “I’m looking forward to this weekend, Oulton is such a fantastic circuit and it’s one of my favourites on the calendar so hopefully we can achieve some good results.

“We made some pretty big steps at Silverstone but it was frustrating that it couldn’t be shown in our results, however like I say, I’m optimistic this weekend will be different. Oulton Park suits our bike and it’s good to have a solid starting base to work from, and hopefully by Sunday we will be a very strong position.”

Team manager Gary Winfield“We’re heading to Oulton Park in a much better position than we did earlier in the year, and that is certainly giving the team a big boost as we expect to be challenging higher up the grid this weekend.

“It’s been fair to say this season has been tough for both Dan and Shaun, but we head into the final three rounds with no pressure, and we have some fairly big set-up changes to try with them both on Friday.

“I’m hoping to be leaving on Sunday with a hat full of points from both riders, their form is trending in the right direction, so hopefully that can continue.”
