Santander Salt TAG Racing ready for 2019 season finale
The 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship heads to Kent, and the Brands Hatch GP circuit, for the final round of the season with both Dan Linfoot and Shaun Winfield aiming to round of the season on a high with three races across the weekend.
Following a difficult weekend at the penultimate round of the season at Donington Park, the Santander Salt TAG Racing outfit head to Brands Hatch full of confidence, as Dan Linfoot aims to replicate his podium success from earlier in the year, and Shaun Winfield is aiming to round off his Superbike career with three strong points finishes.
Linfoot, who currently sits 15th in the Championship standings, is fired up and raring to play his part in the Showdown finale. Brands Hatch was the scene of ‘Linny’s’ first podium of the season in a damp first race, and the 31-year-old is hoping for more of the same this weekend.
His teammate Winfield, will this weekend round off his five-year career in the blue-ribband Superbike class, and has his eyes set on picking up his career best result before moving in to the National Superstock 1000 Championship in 2020.
The final round at the home of Bennetts BSB will host three races across weekend, the first of which will be ran on Saturday afternoon.
The teams sidecar outfit of Chris ‘stalker’ Walker and Ash Hawes are also back out in action at the final round of the Molson British Sidecar Championship.
Following their second podium of the season and a strong fifth place finish at Donington Park, the pair can secure fourth in the Championship with just a ten point gap separating them to Bryan/Hyde.
Dan Linfoot: “I like Brands Hatch, I absolutely love the track, but at this time of the year the weather could cause havoc. We had a wet race there earlier in the year though and that went really well so I’m hoping we can replicate that this weekend.
“If it is wet then I will be up for it, but if it stays dry then my main focus is solving some of our issues. It’s a little bit like a pre-season test for me, the Championship isn’t possible an neither is the Riders Cup but I am really focussed.
“We are aiming to get the best results we possibly can from these last three races and get the feeling back so we can start preparations for 2020 in the best way possible.”
Shaun Winfield: “I’m eager to get to Brands for the final round, it’s a circuit that I really enjoy and the final round always has a great atmosphere to it. You never know what the weather will do and that could cause an issue but I’ll take it in my stride.
“We have three races over the weekend which is great because it gives us an extra race to try and achieve my goals, as always I have my sights set on getting into the points. It’s my final races in Superbikes for the foreseeable future, and I want to round it out on a high.
“2019 hasn’t been an ideal year for me racing wise, but I’m excited to get to Brands and end the season strongly, I’ve loved my time in the big class and it will be an emotional weekend for me really.”
Team manager Gary Winfield: “We’re looking forward to this weekend at Brands Hatch, it’s been a happy hunting ground for us this year, and in previous years, so we’re hoping to end the season on a high.
“It’s not been an ideal season for us, but both Dan and Shaun have worked tirelessly throughout the year and we’ve stuck together as a team, which is something I am extremely proud of.
“I want us to get out there and have a strong end to the year, it’s important for us to leave 2019 with a smile on our faces and fully focus on 2020.”
