Santander Salt TAG Racing aim for home round success at Donington triple header
Swadlincote based Santander Salt TAG Racing are out to impress at the first of two visits to Donington Park, the teams home round, in 2019, with Dan Linfoot and Shaun Winfield out to taste the champagne at the shorter National circuit at the Bank Holiday Bonanza.
After a short three week break from action the squad are fully re-energised, and ready to kick on from the opening two rounds of the campaigns, which has seen Linfoot collect solid Championship points.
Linfoot currently sits 14th in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship standings on 16 points, just 24 shy of a showdown spot, and the Yorkshireman knows that three strong results this weekend will see him firmly back in contention for a top six spot.
Winfield has enjoyed his break from action, tying the knot with his partner Charlie just under a week ago and is fully focussed on collecting solid points at the Bank Holiday triple-header.
Donington Park was the scene of ‘Munch’s’ first points in his Bennetts British Superbike career, and the 25-year-old is aiming to walk away on Sunday with his name on the Championship leader board.
This weekend will see’s the National circuit at Donington Park play host to the three Superbike races on Saturday and Sunday, which will be the first time the shorter layout has seen competitive action in over 15 years.
The shorter lay-out is sure to produce more enthralling action, and both Santander Salt TAG Racing riders are excited by the prospect.
Dan Linfoot: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend, I’ve enjoyed the break and I’m excited ahead of the trip to Donington.
“It’s great to be racing at the National circuit, it’s a short circuit and that will throw up some great racing so I’m excited to see what it brings.
“I’m expecting to have a stronger weekend results wise, we know the areas we need to improve on and I’m confident the Yamaha will go well around Donington, I’m ready to kick on and get the ball rolling.”
Shaun Winfield: “I’m really excited to get back on track at Donington, although I’m not too familiar with the National track, I know Donington well, so it won’t be an issue to learn the last piece of the circuit.
“We know the areas on where we can improve this weekend, I left Oulton with a bitter sweet taste because I had the pace but made a mistake in both races and that cost me, so I know I can come back with three strong results from the weekend.
“Donington was the scene of my first points in Bennetts BSB and I want to have more success on Sunday, I have three chances to do that and I’ll be fully focused on bringing home points.”
Team manager Gary Winfield: “As team we’re all ready and excited for this weekend, the opening two rounds haven’t been what we or the riders expect results wise, but the performances are slowly coming.
“Donington is our home round so it’s important we hit the ground running on Friday morning and get the strongest set-up for both Dan and Shaun ahead of the three races.
“Both riders have the confidence in their bikes and I’m sure we’ll see that this weekend. The National track will throw up some exciting racing and I want us to be at the front of the pack.”
