Thruxton hasn’t been the happiest of hunting grounds for the former MotoGP racer, with his last podium at the 2.3-mile circuit coming in 2013. The Cumbrian is fully focussed on improving that record, and has his eyes firmly set on picking up two strong results this weekend.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a strong round in Hampshire in 2017, picking up two strong finishes and posting a personal best lap time in race two, which was faster than most of the top 10 finishers, something in which ‘Munch’ is aiming to better once again this weekend.
“Thruxton is an awesome track, it’s just so fast. The track has had its rough points for me personally, I’ve broken my wrist there and my femur, but I’ve got happy memories from 2013 and 2009 taking to the podium, but it’s such a fun place to ride. It’s fast, flowing and very technical, because it’s so wide there are lots of different lines you can take, and you have to know your way around the track.
“I’m pushing to be back on the podium again, we haven’t had one since round one and we are still looking for the setting to improve my feeling on the bike, but I know we aren’t far away.”
“This is a special weekend for me as I celebrate 100 races in Bennetts British Superbikes, its been a fantastic four years in the top class and I have enjoyed some fantastic races, but I want to mark this special day with two great results, so I’ll be pushing hard come race day.”
“Shaun made strong progress at Brands Hatch and he’s heading into one of his favourite races of the year in good form, he earned some of his strongest results last year at Thruxton, and we are expecting the same from him this weekend.
“It’s always busy for us at Thruxton, one our major partners R&G are based local to the track, so we hope to bring home two strong results for them and the rest of our valued sponsors come Sunday.”
