Following a six-week break from action the Anvil Hire TAG Racing team are fully prepared ahead of the resumption of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike season, with both James Ellison and Shaun Winfield aiming to kick start their season in Norfolk

The mid-season break has treated the team kindly, with upgrades coming thick and fast for the Anvil Hire TAG Racing machines, and after completing two positives tests at Snetterton and North of the border at Knockhill, both riders have improved their base setups.

Cumbrian James Ellison has enjoyed a strong break from action, training harder than ever back in the USA. James returned early from his family to test twice in a week ahead of round four.

Ellison has enjoyed success at the Norfolk based circuit, and with the team returning to the circuit where they took a double podium last year, it all looks positive as the season re-starts.

Shaun Winfield has equally enjoyed a positive break, where he tested strongly at the official Bennetts British Superbike Championship test at Snetterton, and this week at Knockhill, where at both tracks he went quicker than he ever has before, whilst improving his feeling onboard his machine.

Last year saw the team take to the podium twice in both races at Snetterton, and following that success both riders are ready emulate that this weekend.

James Ellison: “I’m so excited to get back out racing, I’ve done at least three or four laps on the push bike around the track I’m that excited. We’ve had a couple of good tests during the break, one at Snetterton on a track day, which was very busy, and we managed to get through a lot of things on the programme. We also went to Knockhill which was really productive.

“We’ve found a little bit of a balance to suit the new 2018 spec tyre, and we think we’ve found a breakthrough with that after changing certain areas of the setup, so we’ll find out on Friday how that fairs.

“I love Snetterton, it’s really fast and the new 300 layout is a major improvement, I enjoy riding it and it suits the Yamaha. It’s always important to get podium points, but now it’s important to not lose points, I’ve got to go out there, get the best results possible and aim for the win.”

Shaun Winfield: Snetterton is a great circuit and one that I love to go to every year, and this year isn’t any different. I enjoyed a good test there a few weeks ago, where I improved again in time and I learnt a lot from following Chris around, which I will take into this weekend.

“The test at Knockhill also has helped because I’ve completed a lot of laps just days before a race weekend, so my mind is fully up to speed and I know that will help come Friday morning. I want to walk away with points this weekend, I know I can do it and the circuit suits the Yamaha, so I’ll be very disappointed if I don’t come back in the points.”

Team Manager Gary Winfield: “It’s great to finally get back racing after such a long layoff, but the work hasn’t stopped for us. We’ve enjoyed two solid tests at Snetterton and Knockhill, which we’ve learnt a lot from and we’ll be taking that information to build on this weekend.

“During the break we’ve sat down as a team and discussed that the opening three rounds haven’t been good enough by our standards, now is the time to re-group and start again. We want to return to the podium, and this weekend we aim to do that because we have a fair bit of ground to make up on the showdown spots.
