Brands Hatch beckons for Anvil Hire TAG Racing

James Ellison, who currently sits in seventh place of the Bennetts British Superbike standings on 16 points, only three outside of the Showdown, is aiming to walk away from round two with maximum points after finding a strong setup with his YZF-R1.
The Brands Hatch Indy circuit is a favourite with the Cumbrian born man who still holds the lap record around the 1.2 mile track, and he is fully focussed on bringing home the goods come Sunday afternoon.
Following a challenging opening round for 24-year-old Shaun Winfield he has his sights firmly set on picking up points at one of the most physically demanding races on the calendar.
Winfield, who has had previous success at the short, twisty and technical track is ready to kick start his 2018 season in Kent, as he aims to pick up his first points of the year.
“I do go well at Brands Hatch Indy, and the only issue with that is expectations are really high, so if we don’t win or set a lap record then people are disappointed. We are heading into this weekend knowing we still have work to do and must focus on making the bike stronger than it was at Donington. We’re under no illusions that it’s going to be easy just because I hold the lap record or that it’s a good circuit for me and the bike is working well at the minute.
“The aim is to win races, my expectations aren’t too high but I’m confident it’s going to be a good weekend. The goal is to win races, that’s always the goal and my main focus. We’ll know a lot more after FP1, but I’m heading there confident and very excited.”
“My goals are the same as always I want to get into the points and continue to build as quickly as I can. The Brands Hatch Indy circuit is a tight and twisty track, and it’s a place where you don’t get much of rest so I’ve been working hard in the gym to improve on my fitness so I’m ready as I’ll ever be.”
“Both James and Shaun are fully aware of their goals this weekend, James wants to win and pick up as many points as he possibly can to push him into the top six. Shaun needs to be in the points, both he and we know that, and it is vital to his season that he gets into the top 15.
“Brands Hatch is always a great place for racing and it’s important that we put on a show for our sponsors, partners and supporters and give them something to cheer.”
